The Beginning

Chad Chesmark became a self-proclaimed “Expert” magician at the age of 6 when he received a Mickey Mouse Magic Kit (Which he recently re-bought on eBay by the way!) He then began to devour every magic book in his local library. The young magician even forced his parents to read and explain the adult magic books, as the kiddie books soon lost their appeal.

By then age of 8, he was performing birthday party magic shows throughout his neighborhood. During his third grade talent show, while “attempting” to magically stab a 2-foot-long needle through a balloon without causing damage to the balloon, the balloon accidentally popped, startled the young wizard, and caused the needle to be launched high out of his hand, spin several times in the air, and finally, stick perfectly into the floor beside him. The audience erupted with applause believing this to be his plan. To this day, he hasn’t been able to repeat the “Spinning Needle Sticks in the Floor Trick” despite popular demand.

The Resident Magician

While earning his degree in Public Relations and Theater Arts, Chad fine-tuned his magic skills by performing nightly as the house magician at 7 different restaurants. The contacts that he made at the restaurants lead to a busy schedule of shows at corporate events, private parties and trade shows.

The Comedy Club Dare

While attending an open mic night at a comedy club in Ohio, a friend dared Chad to go onstage and do 5 minutes of comedy. With nothing but a deck of cards in hand, Chad took the challenge. On that particular night, the owner of the club was in the audience. He approached Chad afterwards and said, “If you can do 30 minutes like that, I’ll pay you. ”In comedy clubs, it’s uncommon to go from a single open mic performance to becoming the featured (middle) act. This is when Chad really started to focus on making his magic, not only amazing, but also purposely funny. Within a year he was a headlining comedy club performer and while his busy schedule no longer allows him to work many clubs, he still cherishes that classic venue.

The Ships

In 2000, Chad was contacted to audition his comedy magic show for cruise ships. He wowed the entertainment directors and was immediately offered bookings from several major cruise lines. When he’s not performing on land, Chad spends time each year performing for Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Holland America, Princess and Disney Cruise Lines. The high demand for Chad’s brand of comedy-magic has enabled him to perform over 1,000 shows, across the entire globe, in front of more than a million spectators.
