read the restOriginally from Louisiana, Ainsley graduated from college in South Carolina. After graduation, she moved to Austin, Texas, where she served as Director of Scheduling for newly elected Governor of Texas, George W. Bush. She was just 23 years old. During her 4 ½ years with the Bushes, she was part of a wonderful team of talented professionals who worked hard to lead Texas and follow the leadership of the man who would become our 43 rd President.
After leaving Governor Bush, she organized a global technology conference, worked with corporate running programs and led Texas government affairs for a Fortune 500 organization.
In 2010, Ainsley moved to Lubbock when she fell in love and married Lubbock native David Nelson. She and David were the founders of West Texas Endurance, a sporting events company offering running events for the whole family. Following his death in 2018, she continues to produce races that he created and loved, showcasing the best of Lubbock to all who participate.
She currently serves as the Chief Communications Officer for Covenant Health. Ainsley is an avid tennis player and enjoys spending time at her home in Ruidoso with family and friends. She has recently found a passion for visiting our national parks.
