He played college football at Troy University, where he earned recognition as the 2004 Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year. In the 2005 NFL Draft, Ware was selected 11th overall by the Dallas Cowboys, making him the first-ever first-round pick from Troy University.
Throughout his nine seasons with the Cowboys (2005–2013), he became the franchise’s all-time leader in quarterback sacks, amassing 117 sacks. Ware then joined the Denver Broncos (2014–2016), where he played a pivotal role in their Super Bowl 50 victory over the Carolina Panthers.
